Destiny, or Me?

In this big crazy world, it’s easy

to find comfort in the conviction that there is an enormous well-articulated plan in place-

that in every mistake and every glory we can have hope

that it is all a part of a grandeur scheme larger than any one moment in time.

Maybe, it’s cowardly-

to think it’s all ok because it may all be simply apart of some divine play

written for us, and about us,

as an applauding audience assesses our choices absolving us of responsibility and ownership of our fate;

not because or in spite of me, but it is what’s meant to be.

Maybe, or maybe,

just maybe it all happens spontaneously

and rather than an accumulation of scripted passing moments in the making —

maybe every choice we’re taking is us rewriting our history.

altering the ending with every good or bad choice-

and eventually we will see that every single moment matters;

when, how, and with who we make them

- and that ultimately it is we that make them.

Maybe. But at the very least maybe we can keep the audience,

either of many or one,

on the edge of their seats in between intermissions

till this Lifetime episode is done.
